It mainly produces wines from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The company dates back as far as the 1730s, when Michel Bouchard settled in Burgundy to set up a fabric business, before branching out into wine. By the 1860s it was trading across Europe and into the French colonies of Algeria and Vietnam. Bouchard An & Fils has been owned by the Boisset family since 1993. Throughout its history, the company has never owned any commercial vineyards, instead producing wine from bought-in fruit. This is in contrast to the separately owned, but easily confused, Bouchard Pre et Fils, which owns the largest area of Cte d’Or vineyards of any estate. Bouchard An & Fils’ extensive portfolio goes beyond the Cte de Beaune, producing wines from wider Burgundy and around France. This includes wines from grand cru vineyards like Clos de la Roche and Clos de Vougeot, as well as labels from Chablis and Beaujolais. Bouchard An & Fils also makes a range of wines under the IGP Pays d’Oc and Vin de France classifications.
