The 2020 Kinheimer Rosenberg Riesling Sptlese is intense and stony on the tight and concentrated yet reductive nose that needs some aeration. This is a very elegant, round, fruity Riesling with saline and crystalline, finely grippy and savoury acidity, sweet, lush and saline on the palate. A bit too sweet for my taste, in any case. 9% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Johannes and Sebastian Selbach from Selbach-Oster took over the business from Alfred and Rolf Merkelbach in 2020 and started with two excellent vintages. The 2021 Kabinett and Sptlese Rieslings from both rzig (Wrzgarten) and Kinheim (Rosenberg) are fabulous, especially in the cool and later-ripening vintage of 2021, whereas in 2020, the two Sptlese selections from the Wrzgarten are shining.
